Principal Consultant & Managing Director – Erin M. Derrington
Erin M. Derrington is a strategic sustainability leader with more than a decade of experience designing and managing resilience initiatives across islands, coastal regions, and municipalities worldwide. She brings a unique blend of expertise in climate science, environmental law and policy, and program management to every project.
As CEO and Principal Consultant of Eco-Management and Design (Eco-MD) Services, Erin has led the creation of climate adaptation tools, regulatory reviews, and community-centered resilience plans in locations ranging from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), Guam, and Hawaii to Vietnam and Small Island Developing States including Fiji and Papua New Guinea. She has successfully secured and implemented over $100 million in funding for infrastructure and climate resilience priorities, and is recognized for translating complex data into actionable plans and projects that strengthen community sustainability outcomes.
Her career spans leadership roles with the UN Local2030 Islands Network, Maui County Department of Planning, and the CNMI Office of Planning and Development, as well as teaching environmental law and adaptation at Northern Marianas College, coordinating shoreline management planning in Guam, and implementing wetland and dune conservation projects in Hawai’i. Erin’s professional background reflects her dedication to bridging science, policy, and community needs to deliver lasting, data-driven sustainability solutions.
